Theatrical Adaptation of 'Dead Poets Society' to Premiere in Menton
Classic Stage Company's rendition reflects the themes of individuality and conformity in a conservative educational setting.
The theatrical adaptation of 'Dead Poets Society', titled _Le Cercle des Poètes Disparus_, is set to be presented at the Francis Palmero Theater in Menton on June 3, 2025. This adaptation, crafted by Gérald Sibleyras, is based on the original film directed by Peter Weir, which debuted in 1989 and featured a screenplay by Tom Schulman.
Olivier Solivérès is at the helm of the production, which is produced by Classic Stage Company in collaboration with Adam Zotovich.
The narrative is set in a boys' preparatory academy in Vermont in 1959, where literature teacher John Keating, portrayed by Stéphane Freiss, encourages his students to think independently and challenge societal norms.
The performance delves into themes such as emancipation, the passing of wisdom, friendship, and the struggle against conformity.
The event will take place at the Théâtre Francis Palmero, located at Palais de l’Europe, 8 Avenue Boyer, Menton, starting at 8 PM. Ticket prices begin at 18 euros.
