Monaco's Diplomat Elected Vice-President of the UN Information Committee for 2025-2026

On April 28, 2025, Alyson Calem-Sangiorgio, the Second Secretary at Monaco's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, was elected as the Vice-President and Rapporteur of the UN Information Committee for the term 2025-2026. This committee is responsible for addressing issues related to public information and global communication.
It reviews the work of the Department of Global Communications (DGC), which aims to enhance the impact, transparency, and credibility of UN actions.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Calem-Sangiorgio emphasized the need for the United Nations to position itself as a reliable source of information in an era characterized by the rapid spread of misinformation.
She highlighted the critical role of the DGC in disseminating factual, accessible, and multilingual information.
Ms. Calem-Sangiorgio also praised flagship initiatives, including the 'Verified' campaign and the sports diplomacy partnerships such as the 'Football for the Goals' program, which demonstrate the UN's capacity to engage diverse and committed audiences.
Furthermore, Ms. Calem-Sangiorgio reaffirmed Monaco's commitment to advocating for fundamental freedoms, including freedom of expression, the safety of journalists, and multilingualism as foundations of a trustworthy information ecosystem.
She voiced the Principality's support for the launch of the UN's global principles on information integrity.
The Bureau of the Information Committee comprises members from Estonia (President), Bolivia, Djibouti, Lebanon, and Monaco.
