Screening of 'Brendan and the Secret of Kells' at Monaco's Théâtre des Variétés

The animated film _Brendan et le secret de Kells_, a Franco-Irish-Belgian production from 2009, will be screened by the Institut Audiovisuel de Monaco at the Théâtre des Variétés on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Directed by Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey, the film immerses audiences in medieval Ireland, where magic intertwines with reality.
It follows the story of Brendan, a young boy captivated by legends and illuminated manuscripts, residing in the abbey of Kells under the guidance of his uncle, Abbot Cellach.
The plot pivots when Brendan meets the master illuminator Aidan, who is working on a mysterious and valuable book.
Drawing inspiration from Celtic illuminations, the film celebrates the art and culture of the era, as well as the resilience of humanity in the face of challenges.
The film's music, composed by Bruno Coulais in collaboration with the Irish group Kíla, adds to its enchanting atmosphere.
The screening will take place at the Théâtre des Variétés, located at 1 Boulevard Albert 1er, with tickets priced at 8 euros.
